2nd ANNUAL "UNE AFFAIRE de CHOCOLAT" CORPORATE FUNDRAISER JUNE 3rd 2010 |
Our corporate event, held at the sprawling grounds of Edgemere Estates, on the shores of Lake Ontario in Oakville, was by far the most successful in BIAPH's history. BIAPH's sincere gratitude and appreciation go to the generosity of our gold, silver and bronze sponsors, participating local restaurants, contributors to our silent auction and raffle and to the many volunteers that worked so hard to make the evening a truly memorable and successful occasion. "Une Affaire de Chocolat" 2010 raised $36.000, which made it possible to inject additional funds to our respite program and support groups. The day started out grey with rain and thunderstorms, thankfully the rain stopped, thus enabling the approximately 150 guests to move outside to enjoy the vast grounds surrounding the mansion. Multi-talented saxophonist and songwriter Paul Lamoureux provided the evening's musical entertainment. Our special celebrity guest Toronto FC Soccer Star, Chad Barrett took time out of his busy schedule to attend our event. Towards the end of the evening, the black box chocolate competition: "The Battle of the Chocolate Chefs" was held in the kitchen; and to close the evening, BIAPH's annual candlelight vigil to honour our survivors, took place on the terrace. |

6th Annual Bowl-A-Thon 2011 The Classic Bowl in Mississauga was filled with eager BIAPH volunteers and bowlers, ready to knock down those pins in 10-pin bowling. On February 24, 2011, BIAPH celebrated its 6th annual Bowl-a-thon, and what a celebration it was. The bowlerama was packed with eager guests. The evening began at 6:30pm with teams forming and getting ready to compete. After all, there were trophies to be won! At the front of the venue, there lay tables with silent auction prizes galore. One could not help but notice patrons constantly visiting the table to check on their bids, monitoring the status, hopeful that certain items would be theirs to claim! As always, we had generous donations: jewelry, an e-reader, Raptors' tickets (oh what wonderful seats!), baskets of deliciously scented candles, the most exquisite hot chocolate you could imagine, gift baskets, spa certificates, oh the list goes on! Traditional casual fare was served. Chicken wings, nachos, vegetable crudités, all palates were equally pleased and satisfied. There were many new faces this year and familiar faces and it was a wonderful opportunity for connections to be made. The spirit of hope and survival was in the air as it always is at BIAPH events. 7th Annual Golf4Yuri 2010
The tradition continues, with another successful tournament. As in previous years, it was a day of celebration, friendship and hopefully some good golf. We had another tournament with some challenges from "mother nature", quite a few of our golfers came back to the clubhouse sporting rosy cheeks and toques. Many thanks to all that participated, many of you have been coming out for all seven tournaments. This year we also welcomed a few new teams and again we had a sold out event. Much appreciation goes to our sponsors: Golf Carts QRC Logistics; Dinner Help Unlimited; Dessert Pace Law Firm; Gold Hole Sponsor Bayshore Home Health; and to the 20 individual hole sponsors. The proceeds from this year Golf4Yuri was $ 15,350, all directed to BIAPH's respite care program. To date Golf4Yuri has raised close to $75,000. A special thank you to Linda Askew who very graciously shared the story of her husband, David, and how life can be altered in an instant. The Askew family serves as a true inspiration and motivation to continue our work. Next year's event will take place at Caledon Golf and Country Club on Saturday May 14, 2011. 14th Annual Holiday Dinner & Dance |
The event that we look forward to every year came and went, with great success. On November 26, 2010, BIAPH celebrated its 14th annual holiday dinner & dance at the elegant Banquet Royale in Mississauga. The weather was clear and crisp. The evening began at 6:00pm with tasty Hors D'Oeuvers and guests mingling, spreading warm cheer and sharing holiday spirits. The Board of Directors, Holiday Committee came out to celebrate a job well done. Our generous donors made it possible to have a successful silent auction, raffle and fun door prizes for attendees to enjoy. Oh, what a rush it was to see everyone scrambling to write their names down for those silent auction items! Blue-ray players, jewelry, house wares, gift baskets, an e-reader, oh the spirit of generosity! We even had special survivor gift bags that were given out to brain injury survivors. Then of course, there was the food. Dinner was delectable and plates were polished clean. Oh, what a hearty meal it was! Delicious pastries tempted the palate for dessert. This was a special night for those involved with BIAPH, our sponsors, guests and survivors to interact and come together. This was truly demonstrated when the dancing starting and everyone came together on the dance floor. The music was jovial, entertaining and people were moving and shaking! It was a night to remember for one and for all! "He has spent his life best who has enjoyed it most" Samuel Butler Melanie Luxenberg, Law Clerk, Gluckstein & Associates LLP |
